2/27/12- Departure from NL

Sorry no post lately, we have been on the road and on our way Saturday to the Newfoundland to Nova Scotia Ferry.

Al is doing her best to clean up the RV so I guess we can get on the boat with a ship shape interior. She has been more than helpful on this journey. The best little hook up and take down on camp setup.

The weather was a couple of days rain which gave us time to travel cross to the east, and than return the following rain storm.

In Bauline a coastal town on east coast we went out on whale watch/sea bird adventure.
The birds were all over the cliffs of a few ecological islands. Puffins were in great masses while nesting puffins were on top of hills. They were filling the hills, cliffs and water around islands in great masses.

The captain reported hearing a sighting of whales, and even though is was choppy water we all voted to go out into the sound to search out the whales. A couple of minckies were spotted and we followed them around a bit until we happened on two humpback whales, which seemed to chase the little whales off. A few minutes of watching them rollick in the waves and lots of good photos. All seemed to quiet down, everyone had put their cameras down for a ride back to the dock. Lo and behold from out of nowhere the larger of the whales breached within 25 feet of the boat. Took us all by surprise and was the thrill of the adventure. The whale seemed larger than the boat and we all were splashed by the fantastic flip. I did get a shot of the aftermath of the breach, and we were happily heading back to the dock, as the rough water was picking up. Way to go!


Headed south in Avalon area to Cape Race* bio at end of this post, (the lighthouse of Titanic fame). Long dirt road out to point discouraged us from the actual lighthouse, but area was breathtaking, The Irish Loop around was much like ring of Kerry in Ireland, so the experience was worth it.

Overnight stay in Bellview NL on the shore, we sighted loads of small fish in surf, it only took minutes to collect handfills of small fish, used as a smelt type of fish. Cleaned and grilled made a delightful addition to our dinner.

Next morning trip back to west coast seemed endless as it was totally rain across the island. We were all glad to get a quiet day.

We drove back to Shallow bay.And went to the dinner theater.It was a theater as they served us dinner.The show was so funny.The actors even served us our dinner.There was this one guy that was so funny.My grandpa was so happy when his favorite and the most funniest actor handed us our food it was so funny.Oh the dinner was good to.Well i guess thats it for today.

This day we went walking on the beach we were looking for sea glass.We eat at this little yellow restaurant. It was good.Then we just drove.We left cowhead and went to corner brook.Then we stopped at another beach that we had to climb on rocks to get to the water we also took some seaweed.And we went to walmart.Then because close by was a pizza place so we stopped there for dinner.Well thats it.

We drove to the west to east coast basikley across the east side of NL to St.Johns.We drove a while and stayed at a hotel.It was a nice hotel one of my favorites.For dinner we went to the dinner place right next to the hotel.well thats it.

7/24/12
Today we were in the town of Bauline thats french for whale.We were looking for a whale watching boat.Oh and we found the best one.It was so bumpy but it was so fun.There were lots of whales.There was one that did a turn in the air like 20 feet away from the boat we were on.It was so amazing.We also saw puffins and baby birds.It was so fun.Then we went to our campsite and had dinner in the camper.Thats it.

We drove to the beach for our campsite.We drove the irish loop.To go out to cape race we had a picnic at the end of th point and met two stray dogs.Then we went to the campsite and caught fish for dinner to try it.It was good.And we were looking for rocks o the beach we walked a far way.Well bye

Was a rainy day found a hotel in Stephanville and stayed there.We had pizza for lunch and went to a dinner for dinner. Well tata for know. 

*Cape Race on the southern tip of Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula figures prominently in almost every re-telling or depiction of Titanic’s final hours.  Most people who have followed the Titanic’s history know that the doomed ship was in near constant communication with Cape Race on its Marconi wireless prior to hitting the iceberg as passengers passed along greetings and business messages to folks on land all over North America.  Ice warnings were ignored by the Titanic’s Captain Smith. Soon after, Cape Race was coordinating the rescue with Carpathia and other nearby vessels with wireless sets.
The world was riveted to the breaking news from Cape Race - the largest moving object ever constructed by man had come racing through Newfoundland’s Iceberg Alley.  In some people’s minds …including possibly the Captain’s, the vessel was too big, too important, and too powerful to worry about the nine ice warnings received in the Marconi Room, but history records that on the night of April 14, 1912 the unsinkable ship encountered a smallish-sized iceberg and was lost forever on April 15, 1912 together with over 1500 souls.  Following the disaster, the frequent updates from Marconi’s remote wireless outpost at Cape Race turned the Titanic into one of the world’s first-ever "developing news stories" as a breathless world followed the frequent updates on survivors and lost passengers.  A century later, the saga of RMS Titanic still speaks to the world through maritime law, ship safety changes, international iceberg patrols, and through the stories and movies we use to entertain ourselves.    

Newfoundland’s Titanic Trail starts at Signal Hill in St. John’s where Marconi started the transatlantic technology that would save over 700 Titanic passengers and crew.  The Trail passes by museums possessing interesting Titanic artifacts (both authentic and Hollywood) and winds its way south to Cape Race.  Most fans of Titanic geography will know that Cape Race is the closest point of land to the Titanic and is located about 350 miles north-northwest of her final resting place.  They might not know that Cape Race has an ancient history and is found on some of the earliest maps of the new world.  The Cape was a critical point for marine navigation in the early days of transatlantic travel and many a sailing vessel wrecked along its rocky shore.  Due to thousands of maritime deaths in the region the first Cape Race lighthouse was constructed in the mid 19th century and soon after the more modern building we see today was built.

With its new lighthouse, Cape Race was a landfall beacon for ships from Europe travelling to North American ports and the Associated Press (AP) established a station to take advantage of Newfoundland telegraph services.  The AP paid shipping companies to bring the latest news from Europe in watertight canisters and drop them over the side as they steamed past Cape Race. The AP kept a steam launch, a boat crew and lookouts at the Cape. When a ship had news to transfer she would signal with flags or flares and the lookout would alert the boat crew. The news canisters were brought ashore to the telegraph operator who would put the news “on the wire” to New York four days before the ship arrived in port. It was a great business advantage for Associated Press and also good fortune for any fisherman who might find a canister missed by the AP crew since they would receive a generous reward.  Soon the “Via Cape Race” byline became well-known all over North America; however, the landing of the transatlantic cables at Heart’s Content, Newfoundland eventually put an end to that piece of Cape Race history.  The Myrick Center at Cape Race preserves photos, flags, and canisters from that era.

Following his breakthrough on Signal Hill, Marconi went on to refine his technology and in 1904 his company built a wireless station at Cape Race to receive messages from ships at sea.  Fire destroyed this original structure in 1910 and the Marconi Wireless Station was rebuilt.  There are few photos from that time but this image, courtesy of the Myrick Center at Cape Race shows the Marconi Station where Walter Gray and crew received Titanic’s distress message.  Note the large antennae in the middle of the building. The Myrick Interpretation Centre now stands at this historic site at Cape Race and was built in the shape of this 1910 building.
While many people are familiar with the geographic and historic role of Cape Race, the human element of the story also provides poignant insights into the era of the Titanic.  Cape Race Wireless operator Walter Gray was a Marconi school classmate of Jack Phillips, the Titanic’s operator.  Both men were fluent in morse and messages were quickly transmitted, received, and acknowledged.  When Phillips passed Cape Race on the Olympic a few months earlier he wired to his friend that he would be back soon on “the new one” referring to Titanic.  This was an exciting new posting for Phillips and Gray was upset to lose his Marconi school chum during the disaster.

Cape Race continued to serve as a vital wireless outpost into the mid-20th century when improvements in radio technology made the radio site obsolete.  The region is now home to a lighthouse keeper’s residence, the historic lighthouse, various government buildings, and the Myrick Center where one can go to immerse yourself in the region’s communications history and Titanic lore.  Cape Race at the end of Newfoundland’s Titanic Trail always makes the lists of prominent Titanic sites sought out by enthusiasts of that great ship from all over the world.

7/16/12
Today we drove 100 miles.We stopped in port aux Choix for lunch at a diner.Then we drove to the viking trail in the wind and rain and went to the grocery store at plum point.We got some groceries     but my grandma didn’t let us get a lot of good food.But cause its raining so instead of staying in a camper we stayed in a motel.For dinner we eat at the motel cause there was a dinning room that was a restaurant. Well thats it for today.


 7/17/12
We drove up the viking coast and drove out to the L’Anse Aux Meadows national historic site of Canada an archaeological excavation from 1000 AD.The reconstructed mud dwellings of vikings.We saw people dressed as vikings explaining how vikings lived well how they thought the vikings lived.What they wore what they thought the viking homes looked like what there tools were hand carved to and there fighting tools.All there houses were hand made to.After the viking houses we went to go find a campground to stay at the campground we stayed at was the triple falls campground.We had a really nice dinner at the fresh catch restaurant. That's it for today.

7/18/12  RAIN.RAIN.RAIN
we drove from St.Anthony when we couldn’t go out on the boat because of fog and drove down the french coast to Port aux Choix and stayed in Sea Echo motel.For dinner we ate at the dinner in our motel and don’t forget it rained all day.

7/19/12
We drove 100 miles back to Rocky Harbor. Then we went to the info center and got a bumper sticker and put it on our bumper im just kidding it was really the window.Then we got our campsite we are staying there for 2 days.We had dinner early an had hotdogs and beans.


7/20/12
Today we really didn’t drive a long time we only drove from campsite 46 to campsite 41.So no  a long time.Well we weren’t in the new campsite for very long in the morning because as soon as we got what the new campsite we just put stuff in the new campsite    and then just drove. We drove to the aquarium.We were there for like 2 hours.Then we drove to the grocery store.Next we drove back to our campsite.We were there for the rest of the day well it wasn’t much because like i said we were at the aquarium for a very long time. (Oh and for lunch we went to a Woodstock kind of place Java Jakes, good salads and soup.) Then we went back to the campsite. For dinner we had hamburger helper and played card games. AL

Newfoundland and Viking Trail

7/12-Ferry ride was an adventure, 5 hours of beautiful sites and sights. More than the perfect entrance to the island of Newfoundland. We all enjoyed the experience and looked forward to entering NL.

Still moving northward thru NL.CA Weather has been spectacular, with exception of Monday the 16th. All are doing well, only problem is getting to blog. Seeing and experiencing the 'appy' people in this beautiful part of world. As usual the Canucks are charming and delightful society. With the hardships of this part of the world it is still a wonderful place to experience. Looks like only 3 weeks of summer and they still love and are proud of their home.
Next destination: Gros Morne Ntl Park.

Gros Morne-Earlier Cultures
Maritime Archaic Indians who crossed over from Labrador first settled this land some 5,000 years ago. The earliest evidence for their fully maritime lifestyle comes from L'Anse Amour in southern Labrador, which is also the site of the oldest known burial mound in the Americas. The major Maritime Archaic site discovered so far in Newfoundland is at Port au Choix, 160 kilometres north of Gros Morne National Park. To learn more about the Maritime Archaic Indians visit the Port au Choix National Historic Site .
Cooler times brought an arctic folk, the Palaeo-Eskimos to these shores. These people specialized in hunting marine mammals and intensely used whatever resources were abundant. Seals were their most important food, and when seals were scarce starvation came. For 16 centuries they hunted these shores, then left no further trace.
The term ‘Recent Indian Cultures' encompasses all Indian occupation of Newfoundland since the end of the Palaeo-Eskimo period. Unfortunately this occupation is not well represented in the archaeological record of the park, and the people who left the remains are unidentified. There are traces of Indian occupation within Gros Morne National Park at Cow Head and Broom Point about a thousand years ago, but so far nothing more recent has been found.

Today we didn’t drive a long way.We drove from KOA to Rocky Harbor.We stopped for breakfast and to mail something.Well the first breakfast place we went to was to crowded that there were no seats left.So then we went to another breakfast place that at first was not crowded at all and then got more crowded.Well it was breakfast/lunch but i had a lunch instead of breakfast.Then after that we were driving around looking for somewhere to stay.We saw this one place but it only had a 4 bedroom cottage and there is only 4 of us so it seems kind of silly.So we said that we would call to see if we would take the cottage.Next we went to a lighthouse~ .When we were at the light house there was a show that this lady was putting on about all the light houses in the world.Well maybe not all the light houses but most.It was so fun.Then we went to go find a place to stay.We checked out a place with cottages but there was a sign saying that there were no more available at the place.So then we saw this place that was camping and a motel so we stopped there to sleep.It was a very nice room.Then we had dinner at a fish/pizza place, the food was very good.After dinner we went to go get some ice-cream.Last we went to bed.~ (Lobster Cove Lighthouse)

7/15/12
Today we drove 60 miles but we didn’t have electricity.So we drove around looking around for something to eat but a lot of places weren’t open cause the electricity was out.So we stopped at a place to get snacks.Then we went back to the light house because my grandpa left his camera at the light house.Then we got on the road.We drove north on viking trail and went to shallow bay.Shallow bay is right out side of shallow bay as we were in shallow bay we stayed at a campground there.Then cause there was a theatre that had performances.So we got 4 tickets for all of us.Next cause the play was at 7 we went to dinner and then went to the play^^After the play we went back to the campsite  and set up all the stuff we needed.Last we went to bed. ^^ Review to follow, but good time had by all.
7/16/12
Today we drove 100 miles.We stopped in Port aux Choix for lunch at a dinner.Then we drove to the viking trail in the wind and rain and went to the grocery store at plum point.We got some groceries       **** but my grandma didn’t let us get a lot of good food. Plum Point-its raining so instead of staying in a camper we stayed in a motel.For dinner we eat at the motel cause there was a dinning room that was a resturant. Well thats it for today. AL

Ketching up on blog is the hardest part while on the road,
doing my best! Al is enjoying documenting a lot of doings and really more wordy than usual. We are enjoying her view of the trip, the first big adventure in a long while.
As this is Friday the 13th we will be aiming into Newfoundland with open eyes and another quick pass thru Walmart.
Gros Morne Park is today's destination,  and we are looking forward to finally making the journey along west side of NL, up and around top.
Got a request for Viking Hat from home, so hope to head towards village on North eastern shore

Wow all that driving got us all tired.Today Monday July 9,2012 was an amazing day.The first thing we did was got up from bed and got ready to leave the campground.We turned the electricity off turned the fridge to battery and turned the water off.Then we put our waste in a tube under ground let me just tell you it didn’t smell nice.Then we hit the road.I was listening to music and trying to fall asleep so was KK.For breakfast i had cereal so did KK but KK had milk with hers.We drove for a long time well i think i was asleep for most of it.Oh i almost forgot me and my grandpa found a seacret place with wiled blueberries let me tell you they were really good.Next we stopped at a little area by the beach we saw lots of boats in the mud because the tide was down.I got  little gifts for my parents KK got a gift for someone.Then TD Sr was talking to a lady that said the rock caves were very close to there.Well i think you can guess what the next thing we did was.Well if you cant ill tell you.We went to the water caves.OMG it was so rocky every were we stepped there was either rocks mud or water streams but there was mostly rocks.OH i almost forgot there were mountains of seaweed.The caves were so big but didn’t go in to far.There were about two deep caves that were dark on the inside and one shallow cave but there were tiny caves inside of it.We were there for longer then an hour.My feet got so muddy oh and KK’s shoe didn’t like her i mean that they kept coming off her foot but i think her shoe liked me because i was always the one to catch her shoe when it fell off.Me and KK’s feet were so muddy that we just decided to walk in the stream.Oh and also the reason we were walking in the stream was because that there are a lot of wishing rocks.I know what your about to ask what is a wishing rock?Let me till you. Its a rock with a white line circled around it its called a wishing rock because if you find one you make a wish on it and when it comes true you pass it to another person.Then we had lunch at a seafood place along the beach.I thought that what my grandpa had was the best he had a very good fish sandwich.Then i fell a sleep well when i was a sleep we drove to the campsite and checked in.We had a very nice spot.After a few minutes at the camp site we went for pizza.I had a huge salad well i split it with grammy but these other people were like surprised that the salad that big was for a little girl.Last we went back to the camp site.It felt like this day would never end.I hope you now i meant that in a good way. WOW such bizzy days well we are on this trip.Well thats all for today folks.Talk to you next time.BYE!

Today we drove150 miles about.Then we drove on the fundy trail.On the trail there was a beach that we stopped at and took lots of pics and was walking on the rocks.There were big mountains   that a long time ago there was a hurricane maybe that toppled over and lots of big rocks fell off the mountains and stayed in big pieces.We were looking for wishing rocks but after a while we realized that there were no wishing rocks.After a while KK left and it was just me and my grandpa.It was so hard to walk on all the big and small rocks.But it was so fun.Then we went back to the RV and my grandma made us all sandwiches for us for lunch.Then we drove to the Hope well rocks witch is a beach that has rocks with trees on the top of them.When its high tide the trees on the top of the rocks that when its high tide the trees get wet by the water.The rocks are so cool that we took lots of pics.Then we went to get ice cream in the same area of the rocks.Then cause we were all to tired to walk back to the car we took the shuttle.Know we are in Nova Scotia.We are in a hotel called comfort inn hotel in Amherst,Nova Scotia canada.For dinner we had Fish and hamburgers at Conners Family restaurant. We are in the hotel trying to go to sleep.Thats it talk to you next time.

Today we are in the hotel.YAY!The second hotel of the trip.We had breakfast at our hotel it was free so that’s good.The breakfast was really good.We looked up ferry times so we can go to Newfoundland.You have to go on a ferry to get there thats the only way you can get there well besides by boat.The comfort inn hotel is so comfortable.It was relaxing.We are going on the ferry at 10 but you have to be there 2 hours ahead so we will be there at 8.I am so excited.You can get reserved seats or cabins to sleep in cause it is a 8 hour ferry ride.Then because the ferry ride is on the 12 we are driving to were the ferry takes off.We saw what the boat looked like.We tried to guess which one we were going on because there were more then one ferry boat.Well the ferry boats didn’t come in the beginning of the day it came in towards the end of the day.I will say it again when it happens.Then we were on the road.We drove 400 miles at the most.Give or take a few.Then right a cross from our hotel there was a Walmart .So  then we went there to get some food for the camper.We were at the store for a long time.Then after the long Walmart stop we went on the road.Then when it was lunch time we stopped at a pond and had lunch at a picnic table there.Then we drove for an even longer time.We sopped at a place that was a mountain and at the lower part of it there was the water.It was beautiful.Then we drove some more until we stopped at the dock were the fairies were placed.They were huge.We took lots of pics.Then my grandpa said that we should have chines for dinner and luckily there was a chines place just around the corner from the dock with the fairies.And let me tell you the chines was so good.Next my grandma knew that there was another KOA in the area that she made a phone call to dee if there was any open spots.Luckily there was and only for one night and only for the day we needed to.So i thought that that was lucky.Last we drove to the campsite and got settled in.It is nice because it is close to the ferry docks and you can see the water from our spot.We are not the only people with the nice spots some people even have it closer to the water.Don’t you think that today is a lucky day.Well i do i have bin saying the word lucky in a lot of sentences.Well thats it for today.Don’t you wish there is more.Well there is going to be more tomorrow.Well i think you can wait.But if you cant just think about what tomorrows is going to be like.Well Bye for now.

Today we drove about 20 miles from new harris to the ferry.But the only sad part on the ferry was the very beginning.As soon as we got there we had to show this man our tickets and there was a lot of problems but not bad problems.Then after we showed this man our tickets we had to wait in this line but like i said we had to get there 2 hours ahead.So we had to wait in that line forever.But luckily there was a Tim Hortons right next to the line so we sat in the line for a little longer then we walked over to Tim Hortons and had breakfast.Then after breakfast we went back to our car.We had to wait in line forever we are in row 7 so it took forever because there are 4 rows ahead of us and we are a camper so they have to load the cars on a certain way.They had to do all the big trucks and cars first.Then they did campers and everything like campers.But they loaded a different way.They did a row like # 8 and then are row.But after a while we got on.I took so many pics.From the out side of the boat to getting in the entrance of the boat from the inside of the boat.Well not the inside inside but the inside were they store the cars. Then we walked up to the upper deck of the boat.OMG!The boat was so nice.It was really big.The chairs we sat in were so comfortable.You could even recline the chairs.And you can plug earphones to the chairs so you can chose a channel and watch the show that is on the TV.THere was even a gift shop.There were 10 floors and the 8th floor had cabins to sleep in and the 9th floor was reserved seats.There was even ice cream in the 9th floor.The ocean was so beautiful.Me and my grandpa were walking around the ship and it was so nice.The 10th floor was the sun roof.Its were you go up there and you see the ocean a lot better.We took even more pics on the sun roof.We even saw whales.Then when it was time to get off the boat you would have to sit in your seats until we here the floor our car was parked on.But there was so many people trying to get to there cars so the halls to the elevator that we just took 8 flights of stairs down to our car.When we got down to the place were some cars were kept there was so many cars it was hard to get by.We had to go around big and small cars.It was like a maze.The car was at the end of the ship that we had to walk around a lot of cars. But when we finely reached the car we got in and the workers said to not start your engine and the cars in front of us started there engine. It didn’t take long for our camper to get out of the ship because they do it from middle and to the sides.When we first got out of the ship it was so beautiful how the water looked. After that we were driving and saw an info place so we stopped there and asked for directions and cause there  were lots of cool things there i took some stuff but don’t worry it was free.Next we had a book that told us were the closest to us.So we stopped at the Paradise campground.We had chinese for dinner again but it was so good.Thats it for now.BYE!

Hey is anyone forgetting about me a granddaughter to the Sr TD and LD  but a sister to KK.Hi I am AL KK’s younger sister I to was invited to CANADA.So far it has been beautiful here.We saw so many beautiful things like the really blue water to the most amazing sunset.We saw baby ducks and lots of birds.We have mostly been in campgrounds and they were all beautiful. We stayed at one hotel  in the last 5 days.The hotel was at St.Andrews.

WOW you cant imagine how excited i am about going to CANADA!Today is the first day on the road.I cant believe how long we drove today.It felt like forever.Today we drove 347 miles from my dads house to Old Orchid Beach,Main.Then we stopped at the beach witch i have to say it was crowded lots of people.At the beach we had dinner at the Irish Pub.Next we drove a little longer to stay at the best campground ever well i think.We stayed at KOA it was not that crowded.After being at the campground for about 5 min.Me and my grandpa saw that the people that worked there were setting up something.I said that it could be a movie.So me and my grandpa went to go see what was going on and guess what i was right.They had a family movie playing the movie was W bout a Zoo.The lat thing we did was go to bed.But during the movie my grandpa went to sleep a lot.Well thats it today everyone  bye.

Today we didn’t drive as much today. We only drove 100 miles.We drove from KOA to Banger,Main.We stayed at another campground today.The campground we stayed at was the Pumpkin Patch campground.Let me just tell you it was a very nice and quiet place.It was soothing.I thought it was for seniors.It was so nice there that my grandma made well microwave roast chicken for dinner.Let me tell you it was really good and spicy but not really spicy.Oh and i forgot to tell you that it was so beautiful that we eat out side at the campground on a picnic table.OMG! There were so many mosquitos that we felt like there was war with mosquitos going up against people oh ya they won to.So then we just went back into the camper and watched a movie.That's it for know for all the family clans that are reading this.

Today we drove 100 miles the same as yesterday coincidence i think so!Just kidding.Well we didn’t drive 100 miles all at once.First we drove 28 miles and stopped for lunch.Then we drove about another 28 miles give or take a few. It was the first day well the day we crossed the border into CANADA yay.Then we stopped at a hotel actually the first hotel we went to on the trip and i think the last.We stayed at the Motor Inn hotel in St.Andrews.Then for dinner our hotel was close to lots of stores so we walked to dinner.For dinner we waked to a pizza place.Me and KK split a pick your own pizza toppings.We got a pineapple and ham also known as the tropical pizza.Next because the hotel was buy a bridge called wharf also were people keep there boats.Then when my sis and grandma got tiered they walked back to the hotel.Me and my grandpa stayed there and was walking slowly as we were taking pics.After we got to the hotel well we were there for about 10 minutes give or take a few.Last we went to bed.That's it for know bye for know.

Today we drove 50 miles.You know i fell like the miles are dropping from high to low how about you.We drove from St.Andrews Motor Inn hotel to St.Johns,Canada.When we were driving our way to the campsite we were staying in we stopped at a little ponds that had baby ducks and mom and dad ducks.We took lots of pics.We also took pics of birds.Then when we finished we went to the campground.The campground we stayed at was the Rock Wood Park campground.When we were there there was a pool that was actually a small beach.There was also an ice cream store there.Then it was another picnic table at our campground.We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner on the picnic table.that's it for today

Wow all that driving got us all tired.Today Monday July 9,2012 was an amazing day.The first thing we did was got up from bed and got ready to leave the campground.We turned the electricity off turned the fridge to battery and turned the water off.Then we put our waste in a tube under ground let me just tell you it didn’t smell nice.Then we hit the road.I was listening to music and trying to fall asleep so was KK.For breakfast i had cereal so did KK but KK had milk with hers.We drove for a long time well i think i was asleep for most of it.Oh i almost forgot me and my grandpa found a secret place with wiled blueberries let me tell you they were really good.Next we stopped at a little area by the beach we saw lots of boats in the mud because the tide was down.I got  little gifts for my parents KK got a gift for someone.Then TD Sr was talking to a lady that said the rock caves were very close to there.Well i think you can guess what the next thing we did was.Well if you cant ill tell you.We went to the water caves.OMG it was so rocky every were we stepped there was either rocks mud or water streams but there was mostly rocks.OH i almost forgot there were mountains of seaweed.The caves were so big but didn’t go in to far.There were about two deep caves that were dark on the inside and one shallow cave but there were tiny caves inside of it.We were there for longer then an hour.My feet got so muddy oh and KK’s shoe didn’t like her i mean that they kept coming off her foot but i think her shoe liked me because i was always the one to catch her shoe when it fell off.Me and KK’s feet were so muddy that we just decided to walk in the stream.Oh and also the reason we were walking in the stream was because that there are a lot of wishing rocks.I know what your about to ask what is a wishing rock?Let me till you. Its a rock with a white line circled around it its called a wishing rock because if you find one you make a wish on it and when it comes true you pass it to another person.Then we had lunch at a seafood place along the beach.I thought that what my grandpa had was the best he had a very good fish sandwich.Then i fell a sleep well when i was a sleep we drove to the campsite and checked in.We had a very nice spot.After a few minutes at the camp site we went for pizza.I had a huge salad well i split it with grammy but these other people were like surprised that the salad that big was for a little girl. Last we went back to the camp site.It felt like this day would never end.I hope you know i meant that in a good way. WOW such bizzy days well we are on this trip.Well thats all for today folks.Talk to you next time.BYE!

Fun on Fundy

7/9/12-Started troupe on the road-

Travel a bit strenuous this trip, but weather has been super and sunny most of the time. Made it thru Maine, and finally into Canada without any issues.

All are doing well, but days are long and not a lot of time to sight see. No one wants to add to blog yet, but they are writing journal daly-ish.

First day into Canada was stay over in hotel in St Andrews, a sweet town on Bay of Fundy, with lovely quaint homes and wharf open to tourists.

Today the journey took us into Stonehammer (geosite) in St Martins, we were all thrilled with the beach loaded with beautiful stones and caves that opened up when tide was out. (Pix to follow.)
Stones with ring of color around are called wish stones, so it kept us busy for a good while.
We are now in Bay of Fundy area, just across from Nova Scotia. Heading for bridge to Nova Scotia probably tomorrow.  Watching movies in rv has been fun, but tonight staying in Fundy National Park, beautiful site 'no electric/'no water hookup. Going to be interesting, but girls are into reading, and we have been getting them to sleep early and waking up earlier in morning. Tuesday AM is "love of lobster" talk in town wharf at 10am,  we will see how they react to that.

2012 Journey to Northlands

A road adventure takes Some adjustment. Driving up the coast is the toughest part. Since we have been this route so many times before it is almost a chore, but Maine is always the best part. Our first stop was Old Orchard Beach just outside of Sego. The week of 4th of July is a favorite and crowded to say the least. Tied up for the night at KOA to get us all used to camping and enjoy some civilized wilderness. Nice stopover nice people, and we got to watch movie under the stars. Since we are on a mission to get across the border, not a lot of time to spend exploring the coast, which is so intriguing, something always makes me want to roam in and out of the coves. Will have to spend next life as a bird to explore those areas. Our travelers like to sleep in so getting early starts is difficult. The group is getting along well so the no blaming on that, even tho captain and I are still negotiating heading northwest or northeast into Canada. Looks like today's destination (journey) will be nova scotia, and some exploring for A while. Onward and northward,staying overnight just outside of Bangor. Nice evening dining on roast chicken and Thai noodles. Tried to stay awake for movie, but camping is tiresome living. Headed out Saturday am northward and got thru customs like a breeze. First stop was over the border was to pick up tourist information and staying the evening in StAndrews NB . Walking around town after pizza, down to the town wharf, the tide was on its way out, and 30 feet down. The shore line was hundreds of feet from the high shoreline.
