Still no bear! Happy Moose visit.

Okay so you wonder why things are so boring along the Alaskan Journey. Well, we have been taking it easy, just mellowing out. Another trip to Homer and back turned out to be entertaining to say the least. Our stop at the galleries of Norman Lowell was so enthralling. He and his family have spent the last 60 years making their way in such a beautiful place, wonderful paintings of the Alaskan sights, and a most fantastic collection of artifacts and carvings of this amazing part of the world.
Last evening T caught quite a few fish and pink salmon, which we promptly had for dinner. (Not so special, but it was fresh and gives him a good reason to fish.) After dinner while he took a small snooze and I was doing some sketching, I noticed a large moose outside the rv. Awakening a dozing T and following the sweet thing down the road we started to really enjoy just being here. The sweet thing didn’t seem too disturbed by us, but we had a great time following her down the trail. She soon became bored with our persistence and took off into deeper brush. As we stayed our distance she nibbled on aspen and shoots of fire weed (big appetite but quiet disposition) Hope the photos show her off well.
Still no bear, but we are still bearfooting along the Kenai. Nice lunch in old town Kenai at Veronicas, richly planted with delphiniums in bloom. I Have been really enjoying the flora of the area, quite vibrant this time of the year. Cow Parsnip is in full seed heads, twice as tall as NY Parsnip and huge leaves. Devils Claw, fire week, and wild lupine is in great abundance. Not to mention the most fantastic plantings of annuals, especially massive beds of pansies, petunias and nastursiums.
T is ready to move, and check out further northern realms. There is so much to see, and so little time, but staying put in Kenai has been relaxing, most interesting people to meet and hear their stories. As they say, onward and upward, off to Anchorage and Denali. Hoping to get a quick trip to Alaskan State Fair which goes thru the weekend.
NO TRIVIA TODAY- no homework weekend.

  2. Hi Linda and Tom!

Looks like you're having a blast.

Are you staying in the RV mainly or do you find yourselves staying in motels more often?

Herman and I are curious how you're living arrangements in the Rialta are working out? Any thoughts, words of wisdom or one liners about traveling cross country in a Rialta? Have you showered in it or outside of it yet?

There's a bunch or Rialta specific forums where owners talk about their travels in their Rialtas. I bet they'd love to hear about this monumental trip! Here's a link to the best forum... Let them know about your trip. They'll love it!
